Magical Kisses

The laundry is piled up, there are dishes in the sink and overflowing onto the counter, and let’s not talk about how long it’s been since I’ve really scrubbed the floors. But none of that matters because today I discovered I have a super power. I can’t fly, I’m not invisible, nor do I have superhero strength– I have magical kisses.

As we were walking up the stairs McKinley hurt her hand (I still have no idea what happened, there was no mark, but she just said ouch!) and without hesitation she turned to me and held out her little hand and said “Kiss it, please!”. So of course I did and do you know what, she was instantly better! So like I said- magical kisses.

As moms it’s so easy to get caught up in the never-ending list of things that need to be done. We have all been there! Oftentimes you feel like the only way anyone would even notice everything you do is if you just stopped doing it all. But every now and then, in those tiny, simple moments there’s magic. We are all superheros with magical healing kisses. These little ones that take every ounce of patience we can muster love us more than we can even imagine. We are the healers, fixers, protectors and though it can be overwhelming at times, it is the most incredible feeling in the world.

Next time you find yourself in a moment like that really take it in. The times when we feel powerful and amazing may be fleeting with young children, but they stop time and take your breath away.
